The Department at a Glance

Welcome to the New Gloucester Fire and Rescue Department website. We hope that you will find the information here useful and informative, and if you have other questions please contact us.

The department covers approximately 48 square miles that make up the community which has seen substantial growth over the past several years while still maintaining its rural character. Forty-five well trained and dedicated volunteers and a fulltime chief respond to all types of emergencies including fires, medical calls, accidents, hazardous materials, and off-road incidents - to name a few.

The department has eight response vehicles including two engines, two tankers, a squad truck, a utility truck, a rescue vehicle, and a forestry unit. The department still has in running condition its first fire engine, a 1928 Model-A engine. Take a closer look at our apparatus here.

The department handles on average 550 calls each year with an operating budget of $200,000. Our staff is active and well trained and the department actively participates with its neighboring departments in mutual aid response agreements and trainings.

The Auxiliary is another section of the department which helps support the department by organizing fundraisers and providing support at emergency scenes.

We hope you'll take the time to browse our web site and get to know us a little better. We serve our community proudly, and we value your interest.
